Thomas McCarthy follows up The Visitor with another low-key character piece about outsiders forming makeshift families. This time his focus is on Paul Giamatti’s struggling small-town lawyer and wrestling coach finds himself caring for the man’s troubled and talented wrestler grandson. What sounds like a soapy set up feels painfully real and hilarious.
