The MTA announced today that they will be selling 15 properties to raise cash. The news of the property sales came at the same time the MTA announced losses from Hurricane Irene and the service cuts implemented last year.
Hurricane Irene cost the MTA a whopping 110 million, 60 million in operations and 50 million to repair the Port Jervis Metro-North station.
The unpopular service cuts implemented in June of last year cost the agency 22,000 rides a day.
The MTA also announced a new cash-saving venture, which would decrease rush hour service for number trains on minor holidays, like Columbus Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving, to save $200,000 a year.
