Man, 32, killed at after-hours restaurant
Police have laid charges against two men after the midnight calm at a downtown after-hours restaurant erupted into violence, resulting in the stabbing death of a 32-year-old.
Early Sunday morning, Wing Fung was stabbed at the Garden Bakery and Restaurant in Chinatown, police said.
Detectives are still looking for a murder weapon, but have charged Kenneth Ian Lunty, 26, with second-degree murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
Quy Nguyen, 23, was also arrested Monday and charged with assault with a weapon and possession of an offensive weapon.
Police said the early morning fight, near 106 Ave. and 100 St., was between a group of customers at the late-night establishment.
The fight escalated while a number of patrons were inside the store, sometime before 2:45 a.m. when police and emergency response crews arrived on scene, police said.
“The details on what the fight was over will come out in court, but it was a dispute between two groups of people that got out of control,” said police spokeswoman Karen Carlson.
