Murderer on the lam

For the second time in two weeks a convicted murderer has escaped from jail in British Columbia.

Early yesterday, Ralph Whitfield Morris “went missing” from a minimum-security institution near Agassiz.

Morris, 73, was serving a life sentence for second-degree murder at Kwikwexwelhp Healing Village. He has also been convicted for an armed robbery in 1975, escaping custody and uttering threats.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest, according to Upper Fraser Valley RCMP.

An initial search of the area by police failed to find Morris and police dogs were brought in later yesterday to help track him down.

Const. Lea-Anne Dunlop said in a release Morris doesn’t have any clear ties to B.C. and may be travelling East either by train, car or bus.

On April 19, Blane MacDougal, 60, simply walked away from the minimum-security Ferndale Institution in Mission. He was serving a life sentence for murder and sexual assault.
