NBA Playoffs: Celtics get out the brooms

Celtics 101, Knicks 89

What went right …

1 – Brooms out

It may not be great for business, but it’s great for the Celtics. There will be no Game 5 back home in Boston, as the C’s took the brooms out in New York and swept the Knicks. Believe it or not, it’s the first four-game sweep the Celtics have had since the new Big Three was assembled four seasons ago.

2 – Off the bench

It came later than the C’s had hoped, but the bench unit showed signs of life in this one, with Glen Davis leading the way. In 27 minutes, Davis scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds. He filled in nicely for Kevin Garnett and Jermaine O’Neal, who at times were dealing with foul trouble. Jeff Green chipped in with five points and seven boards.

3 – Time to rest

If there’s one thing the Celtics can’t get enough of, it’s rest. They’re the only team in the East that swept, which means they’ll get some extended time off. The starters could sure use it. Who knows, maybe Shaq will even be ready to go for the next series. Yeah, sure.
