New England Patriots Dez Bryant NFL Rumors: Workout may be coming

New England Patriots Dez Bryant NFL Rumors are here as Dez wants the Pats like a skunk wants stank.

The free agent wide receiver spent the brunt of his day on Sunday trolling the Dallas Cowboys, his former team, all while playing social media footsies with the Pats.

While the Cowboys were getting kicked around by Carolina Sunday afternoon, Twitter user @Pulla_T tweeted at Bryant, “Please come back, please have Kim call Jerry [Jones] first thing Monday.”

Bryant shot back: “Naw I’m OK. I’d rather go somewhere I can showcase my skills for real. If I line up next to Gronk, Hogan, Edelman I’m for sure getting a 1-on-1 matchup, plus I won’t be getting criticized for expressing my love of the game … Washington is cool as well.”

Boston sports radio host Marc Bertrand of 98.5 The Sports Hub added some fuel to the fire Sunday night by tweeting out, “I think Dez will be here for a visit in the next week or two.”

The question now is if the Patriots even need Dez.

Tom Brady spread the ball around to eight different receivers Sunday against Houston, and the Patriots offense looked just fine. They will also get Julian Edelman back from suspension in three weeks. With games coming up against the Jaguars, Lions and Dolphins on deck it’s looking like the Pats will be 3-1 at worst when Edelman returns.

Phillip Dorsett looked very capable on Sunday, as Brady targeted him seven times. The fourth-year man caught all seven balls from Brady as he had 66 yards receiving and a touchdown.

You’ve gotta figure that Chris Hogan will be targeted more in the weeks ahead as well. Hogan was targeted five times Sunday but caught just one ball for 11 yards.

The Patriots added two receivers on Tuesday in Corey Coleman and Bennie Fowler, which one would think would rule out Dez. That may not be the case, however, as the Patriots still have one roster spot still open and have no problem cutting their losses. Brady recently said that the Patriots offensive playbook is “graduate level,” and considering Coleman had issues learning the Buffalo Bills’ playbook – the Pats won’t wait long to release him if they don’t think he’ll work out.
