Bigger isn’t always necessarily better.
Halifax tattoo artist Amber Thorpe said while this was her sixth year at the Alberta Bound Tattoo and Arts Show, she’s happy the venue was smaller this year.
“It’s been really good; it’s a lot of fun. I really like the smaller venue and the smaller feel, it gives the show a cozier and more intimate feeling,” said Thorpe.
Thorpe completed an eight-hour tattoo on Saturday of a koi fish, and the rest of the weekend kept her busy tattooing as well.
“I have been tattooing since I got here. It’s always a lot of fun every year.”
Event organizer Steve Peace said they made the show a bit different this year to make it better.
“Things are going swimmingly,” Peace said. “We are always up for trying new things and changing things. We are perfectionists and when we see something we can improve, we do it.”
Peace said there were between 8,000 and 10,000 people walking through the BMO Centre for the popular event.
“It’s not just tattoo lovers, its curious people too. It’s the best place to come and check out tattoo artists because we only have the best of the best here.”
