New West cops seek tipster in girl’s hit-and-run

Authorities are asking an anonymous tipster who recently called in with “crucial” information regarding a hit-and-run that killed a three-year-old girl in 1996 to contact New West Police.

Megan Gunderson was killed when a red minivan hit her outside her family’s home at 239 Pembina St.

“Although a potential suspect driver was identified early in the investigation, investigators eliminated that person as the driver of the vehicle in the fatal incident,” said Sgt. Gary Weishaar.

“Recently, police investigators have received information from an anonymous tipster that has proven invaluable to the investigation,” Weishaar said.

“Our investigators need that tipster to contact us again. The information that they possess is crucial to this investigation.”

Police say they plan to release more information on Friday, when Megan’s parents Melanie and Craig Gunderson will issue a message to the suspect driver.

Anyone with information is asked to call Megan Gunderson Tip’s Line at 604-529-2430.
