Fuku vs. Shake Shack: Can there be only one fried chicken sandwich?

It seems Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort are not the only ones who can’t live while the other survives.

If you were saving Shake Shack’snew ChickenShack sandwichas your Friday post-drinking treat, then you’re out of luck. All three Brooklyn locations are sold out of the sandwich until July 16.

It’s chicken, not water in California, just bread it, fry it and serve it! If this sandwich is meant togo national, Shake Shack’s got to get its economics game on point.

But you won’t have to settle for $1 slices. We’re not saying there’s a fast-casual cabal, but David Chang’s new fried chicken sandwich-only spotFukuis conveniently beginning Friday and Saturday night servicethis very evening.

The restaurant has been open since June 10 to perpetually long lines of interns fetching lunch orders, because it was only serving from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. But now your night cheese can enjoy the spicy company of Chang’sworth-the-hype sandwichfrom 6 p.m. until 11 p.m.

And since fried chicken is officially the trend of the summer, KFC cut out the carb middleman to make theChizza. And of course we already havePopcorn ChickenandChicken Fries, but one must never be afraid todream a little bigger, darling.
