How to be part of New Year’s Eve in Times Square

The wishing season is here, and if your holiday desire doesn’t quite fit in Santa’s bag of gifts, there’s another way to put it out into the world.

Whether it’s world peace or just a get well soon message to Kanye, you can write it on the New Year’s Eve Wishing Wall now in Times Square. Tack it up on the wall alongside other visitors’ hopes for 2017, after which it will become one of the millions of pieces of confetti released during the ball drop at midnight on Dec. 31.

The Wishing Wall can be found on one of Times Square’s Broadway plazas, between 42nd and 47th streets, every day from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. until Dec. 29 (except Christmas Day). You can also submit a wish through the Times Square Alliance’s Virtual Wishing Wall or at Planet Fitness, which is sponsoring the wall.

“The New Year offers everyone an opportunity to start fresh, to reflect on their goals and successes from the past year and look with confidence and optimism for what lies ahead,” said Planet Fitness CEO Chris Rondeau in a statement. “As we count down to midnight in Times Square and throughout the world, our wish is for everyone to enjoy a positive, judgement-free 2017 and beyond.”

Not a bad message for the year — or the next four — to come.
