NYC street closures map: UN General Assembly, parades, festivals, fairs

The United Nations General Assembly will be held in New York City and will affect motor traffic in areas near the United Nations Headquarters from Friday September, 18 to October 3.

Beginning next week, Pope Francis will be viisiting New York City and there will be adidtional street closures throughout the city including the United Nations General Assemb

The following are the NYC street closures for September 19 – 20

Friday – Saturday

UN General Assembly

  • Area bounded by East 60th Street on the North, East 34th Street on the South, 1st Avenue on the East, 3rd Avenue on the West, – all inclusive
  • Area bounded by East 51st Street on the North, East 48th Street on the South; 1st Avenue on the East; Madison Avenue on the West, – ll inclusive
  • 34th Street between FDR Drive and 7th Avenue
  • 42nd Street between FDR Drive and 7th Avenue
  • 50th Street between FDR Drive and 7th Avenue
  • 57th Street between FDR Drive and 7th Avenue
  • 48th Street between 1st Avenue and FDR Drive Service Road
  • 49th Street between 1st Avenue and FDR Drive Service Road
  • FDR Drive Service Road between 48th Street and 49th Street
  • 51st Street between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue
  • 56th Street between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue
  • 52nd Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue
  • 53rd Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue
  • 55th Street between 6th Avenue and Madison Avenue

Broadway between Waverly Place and 14th Street will be closed on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the Broadway Autumn Fair.

In Queens, the 31st Street between Ditmars Boulevard and 21st Avenue will be closed Saturday from 12:00 pm Noon to 6 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Astoria Restoration Association.

Sunday

Sunday will have the most street closures around the city.

Columbus Avenue between 66th Street and 86th Street will be closed on Sunday from 12 noon to 5 p.m. for the Columbus Avenue Festival.

Amsterdam Avenue between West 106th Street and West 110th Street will be closed on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for theDOT Weekend Walks Bloomingdale Family Days event.

Lexington Avenue between 79th Street and 96th Street will be closesd onSunday from 12:00 pm Noon to 5 pm for the 92nd Street Y Lexington Avenue Street Festival.

The following streets will be closed Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm for the African American Day Parade:

Formation

  • 111th Street between Frederick Douglass Boulevard and Malcolm X Boulevard
  • 112th Street between Frederick Douglass Boulevard and Malcolm X Boulevard
  • 113th Street between Frederick Douglass Boulevard and Malcolm X Boulevard
  • 114th Street between Frederick Douglass Boulevard and Malcolm X Boulevard
  • St. Nicholas Avenue between 113th Street and 114th Street

Route

  • Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard between 111th Street and 136th Street

Dispersal

  • 136th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard and Malcolm X Boulevard
  • 137th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard and Malcolm X Boulevard
  • Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard between 136th Street and 137th Street

Thames Street between Trinity Place and Broadwaywill be closed Sunday from 11 am to 8 pm for the JA Downtown End of Summer Event.

Fulton Street between Dutch Street and Broadwaywill be closed Sunday from 12:00 pm Noon to 6 pm for the Community Board #1 Fulton Street Follies event.

The following streets will be closed Sunday from 12:00 pm Noon to 3 pm for the German-American Day Parade:

Formation

  • 67th Street between 5th Avenue and Lexington Avenue
  • 68th Street between 5th Avenue and Lexington Avenue
  • 69th Street between 5th Avenue and Lexington Avenue
  • 70th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue

Route

  • 5th Avenue between 67th Street and 86th Street

Dispersal

  • 5th Avenue between 86th Street and 87th Street
  • 86th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue

The following areas will be closed Sunday from 7 am to 8 am for the Rodale’s Women’s Health 10K Run:

  • Pier 84
  • 12th Avenue between 44th Street and North Moore Street (South bound)
  • Hudson River Park Bicycle Path between North Moore and 44th Street

In Brooklyn, Havemeyer Street between South 4th Street and Grand Streetwill be closed Saturday from 1 pm to 6 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Southside Connex.

Graham Avenue between Grand Street and Broadway in Brooklynwill be closed Sunday from 1 pm to 2 pm for the Brooklyn Puerto Rican Day Parade.

In Brooklyn, Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and Ocean Avenuewill be closed Sunday from 12:00 pm Noon to 6 pm for the Flatbush Frolic event.

The following streets in will be closed Sunday from 1 pm to 3:30 pm for the Mexican Day Parade:

  • 37th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue
  • 38th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue
  • Madison Avenue between 38th Street and 27th Street
  • 27th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue
  • 39th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue
  • 29th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue
  • Park Avenue between 37th Street and 39th Street (West side)
  • Park Avenue between 26th Street and 28th Street (West side)

The following streets will be closed Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm for theEpilepsy Awareness Parade:

  • Fulton Street between Water Street and South Street
  • South Street between Fulton Street and Whitehall Street

In Staten Island,the following streets will be closed Saturday from 12:00 pm Noon to 3 pm for the Staten Island Black Heritage Family Day event:

  • Vanderbilt Avenue between Richmond Road and Targee Street
  • Vanderbilt Avenue between Targee Street and Bay Street
  • Bay Street between Vanderbilt Avenue and Water Street
