Hey Santas! If you were looking forward to bellying up to the bar on MTA Long Island Rail Road and MTA Metro-North Railroad during SantaCon, here's a big pile of Ebenezer Scrooge.
MTA has announced that no alcohol will be permitted on the LIRRand Metro-North from noon on Saturday through noon on Sunday. Drinks on LIRR trains are usually banned between midnight and 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
Expect police officers on duty in Penn Station, Grand Central and on trains to keep an eye on the naughty or nice. If you're caught, your beverage will be seized, you could be booted from the train and slapped with a summons.
Which means, you'll get a fine or a stint in jail for Christmas. And probably coal in your stocking.
