The reactions of conservative women to the sexual-assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh have made news in recent days, from a CNN panel in which a GOP operative said, “Tell me what boy hasn’t done this in high school” to a mother of two daughters who told an MSNBC reporter that groping was “not a big deal.”
As Kavanaugh testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday afternoon, responding to Christine Blasey Ford‘s earlier testimony that Kavanaugh had tried to rape her in high school, a number of conservative women took to Twitter to show support under the #IStandWithBrett hashtag.
Fox News host Tomi Lahren tweeted her approval of Kavanaugh’s performance, in which he read a prepared statement in a near-shout, teared up several times and interrupted Democratic senators’ questions. “Brett Kavanaugh is not backing down, he’s not curling up in the corner, he’s not playing dead. He’s coming out swinging and knocking these quacks out of the park! Get em, Brett!” she wrote.

A number of users claimed to have been sexually assaulted and did not find Ford’s account of her experience credible.

A Fox News poll released Monday found that 50 percent of registered voters oppose Kavanaugh’s confirmation, and 40 percent support it. More voters believed Ford than Kavanaugh, 36 percent to 30 percent. Thirty-four percent said they were unsure whom to believe. Women were more likely to believe Ford by 10 points. Men believed Ford over Kavanaugh by 1 point.
