Inside Amy Schumer’s Jessi Klein goes full-on wolf in new comedy sketch

Jessi Klein doesn’t give a f— about being graceful. In her 2016 bestselling book of essays, “You’ll Grow Out Of It,”the Emmy-winning “Inside Amy Schumer” head writer hilariously asserts that women fall into two distinct categories: wolves or poodles.

Klein identifies with the first group — grown-up tomboys who fumble awkwardly through life — compared to effortlessly feminine poodles, who woke up like this. Think: Amy Schumer vs. Gwyneth Paltrow.

In a new series of comedic shortsfor LOFT, the 41-year-old comedian and author typically embraces her wolfness, showing that “you don’t have to be a girly girl to wear florals,” as she tells us on a call from L.A.

“The dirty secret is I love flowers,” says Klein. “I’m looking at flowers right now. I don’t know what they are but they’re orange. What’s the orange flower called?”

The first of three sketches Klein wrote and stars in, “Special Delivery,”below, spoofs the concept of being a green thumb in the spring. The video short begins with Klein rejecting a cactus gifted from a friend — “I just kind of can’t with plants, and you know this, that’s why this just feels a little aggressive to me” — and closes with Klein rocking a floral pashmina and busting goofy, clumsy, totally wolfy dance moves.

“Not only is that the feeling I’m carrying around in the sketch, but every day,” Klein jokes.

The next two shorts debut in subsequent weeks; on April 6, “Note to Self,” in which Klein sends herself flowers, Cher from “Clueless” style; and on April 12, Klein struggles to find the right outfit in “Garden Party.”

“I send flowers to myself all the time,” says Klein. “I go to a nice flower store and they start wrapping them and I’m like, ‘Whoops, don’t worry about it! No surprises here!’”
