NYPD surgeon accused of raping woman in his Brooklyn home

An NYPD surgeon was accused of raping a woman in his Brooklyn home.

Just days after two department detectives were indicted on charges that they raped an 18-year-old woman in their custody, a NYPD surgeon was accused of raping a woman in his Brooklyn home.

The alleged sexual assault took place on Saturday after the surgeon met the woman at Delilah’s Bar on the Lower East Side and offered to take her home when she fell ill, police sources said, according to the New York Daily News.

But instead of taking her home, the unidentified surgeon allegedly took her to his home and raped her. The woman told police that she called a friend who knew the surgeon and said he didn’t appear to be someone who would commit such an attack, the sources said. The friend told the woman to leave the doctor’s home and call 911, which she did after putting on a bathrobe.

Sources said that the doctor came outside to search for her, but she hid between vehicles, according to PIX11.

The unidentified victim was interviewed by police on Sunday, as was the surgeon, who was later released and has not been charged.

The doctor is an honorary police surgeon who determines when injured police officers can return to duty, PIX11 reported. There are 36 surgeons within the department.
