The masked man with an English accent who features in ISIS' gory beheading videos of hostages including Americans James Foley, Steven Sotloff and Peter Kassig has been revealed as Mohammed Emwazi, a computer programmer who was bought up in a bourgeois family in London. The U.K.'s secret service tried to recruit him before he fled to Syria in 2012.

At the moment the group raises cash through theft, extortion and and snatching oil fields, but they're going to need to take over new regions in order to keep up with their current spending levels, says the report.
