No charges will be laid in connection with a leaked city document containing confidential information about a $100-million loan for the Olympic Village, police said yesterday.
Const. Dave Jakeway, an investigator in the case, said there wasn’t enough evidence to press charges because some councillors refused to take a polygraph test.
In November, police were asked by then-mayor Sam Sullivan to investigate how the document — which belonged to Coun. Peter Ladner — disappeared from a closed-door city hall meeting and wound up several days later on the desk of Coun. B.C. Lee.
Details of the document, which pertained to a $100-million bailout loan from the city to the Olympic Village’s developer, were leaked to media.
The police report stated that most people interviewed by investigators believed the document was deliberately taken from the meeting by a city councillor.
Investigators wouldn’t say which councillors refused to take the polygraph test.
