NYPD officers responding to a noise complaint on Friday got more than they bargained for when a Queens man answered the door holding a marijuana pipe and invited them into his apartment filled with heroin, police said.
Just after 11 p.m. on Friday, uniformed officers arrived at a building in Kew Gardens Hills in response to a 311 call about loud radio noise coming from a third floor apartment. A man identified as Frank Giardina answered the door, pipe in hand.
When the officers asked Giardina for his identification, intending to write him a summons, the suspect invited them inside where they saw five bags of what appeared to be heroin sitting in full view on a table in the kitchen.
Giardina was arrested and a warrant obtained. A further search turned up 1,948 glassines of heroin along with packing materials.
Giardina was charged withseveral counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, intent to sell, andcriminal possession of marijuana.
