A 50-year-old man was charged with strangling his girlfriend to death in his Bronx apartment, police said on Monday.

Officers found Alexis Beck, 48, dead in a rear bedroom of Christopher Coachman’s Williamsbridge apartment around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, according to the NYPD.

Beck, who lived 11 blocks away, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Coachman was charged with second-degree murder and strangulation after investigators determined Beck was killed, the NYPD said on Monday.

Police went to Coachman’s apartment when someone reported a possible crime, police said. Coachman had contacted that person and made statements indicating he had harmed Beck, the NYPD said.

Investigators were still trying to determine a possible motive, police said.

Coachman had previously been arrested 15 times before on charges including criminal possession of a controlled substance and robbery, police said.

Information on Coachman’s attorney was not immediately available.
