A woman was slashed in the arm on Tuesday morning while walking through Bryant Park, police said.
Responding officers found the 31-year-old woman conscious and alert in the 42nd Street park. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital by ambulance and is expected to recover.
A male suspect was apprehended at the scene with a weapon, a police spokeswoman said.
Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said the woman was coming from yoga class, the New York Post reported, and that she sustained a “substantial gash on her right arm.” Police believe the suspect is homeless. He had not been arrested as of Tuesday afternoon.
