O’Brien to reveal his future plans soon

For the past two weeks, Larry O’Brien hasn’t been able to show his face in public without someone asking whether he’s going to run for mayor again.

He’s deflected those questions, mostly saying there is too much work at city hall to launch a campaign or start winding down his time in office.

Yesterday, the mayor’s office confirmed O’Brien will announce his intentions June 29, the day after city council decides on the Lansdowne Partnership Plan.

That may not be the final vote on the development of the park.

Bay Ward Coun. and mayoral candidate Alex Cullen has vowed to make it an election issue.

Jim Watson, Cesar Bello, Mike Maguire, Stanley Pioro, Sean Ryan, Jane Scharf, Charlie Taylor and Samuel Wright are also registered to run for mayor.

After mulling over a run for the mayor’s office, Diane Deans has registered to run for a sixth term in Gloucester-Southgate. Deans has represented the area since 1994.

Robin Lawrance, Lilly Obina and Wade Wallace are also running in Gloucester-Southgate.
