Occupy protesters rebuffed at main Davos forum

DAVOS, Switzerland – Half a dozen members of the ‘Occupy’ movement have attempted to enter the high-security venue of the World Economic Forum but were turned away by organizers.

The activists said Friday they had come peacefully to claim their entry passes and those of “seven billion other people” wanting to take part in the annual meeting of global leaders in Davos, Switzerland.

The forum organizers denied them entry but said the protesters had been invited to a separate event outside the main venue.

U.N. human rights chief Navi Pillay told The Associated Press on Friday that Occupy activists and more young people should have been invited to take part in debates inside the main venue where political and business leaders are discussing the state of the world.
