event Everyone for Edmonton returned for its second year to prove Edmontonians have heart — and a lot of it.
About 150 non-profit organizations, ranging from social advocacy to education, set up booths in the Shaw Conference Centre yesterday to promote their cause and recruit volunteers.
Cliff Higuchi, the event’s organizer, said Everyone for Edmonton gives people the opportunity to learn more about volunteering so they can give back to their communities.
“A hundred people that came to my booth are a hundred more than yesterday,” said Lorie McConnell, a volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
“For us it’s a success,” Renee Lacoursiere, volunteer manager for Elder Care Edmonton, said the event is also good for networking with other organizations to explore ways to work together.
