The Trews are among the various Canadian musicians who’ll perform at the nightly victory ceremonies at the Whistler medal plaza during the Winter Paralympics that open Friday.
Paralympics organizers announced yesterday that singer Kathleen Edwards is scheduled to play the first victory ceremony on March 13.
Juno-nominated indie rockers the Weakerthans, out of Winnipeg, play on March 14 and French performer Antoine Gratton plays on March 15.
The Trews, a four-time Juno-nominated band based in Toronto, hit the stage March 16, followed by Justin Hines the following day.
Closing out the final victory ceremony is Juno Award-winner and Ontario native Serena Ryder, whose album If Your Memory Serves You Well went gold. She performs on March 18.
Tickets to all victory ceremonies in Whistler are free, but the plaza has a capacity of 5,000 people. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. each day.
Whistler is hosting alpine and cross-country skiing events as well as the biathlon, with medals presented at the plaza.
Wheelchair curling and ice sledge hockey are being played in Vancouver and will have in-venue medal presentations at UBC Thunderbird arena.
