It was a quiet week in the NFL craziness. Sadly no one strangled a duck like on Saturday. But thankfully we had the finale of the interminably long NASCAR Sprint Cup season yesterday. Some guy named Brad Keselowski won, so good for him.
But more importantly, the Miller Lite-sponsored driver took the opportunity for free beer a little too quickly after the win. And Sportscenter immediately got him on the air, live … and drunk.
Awesome. Thanks ESPN!
Yes, that’s Keselowski taking swigs of beer from an enormous glass throughout the interview. We also approve of his quoting of Winston Churchill (“Never, ever give up.”), jokes about his weight and starting the interview with the line “Pretty damn good!”
Brad Keselowski, you are now my favorite driver.
Bart Scott acts dumb … as usual
The Jets finally won a game yesterday (against the Rams, but still) and linebacker Bart Scott took the opportunity to hastily arrange a team-wide media boycott in the locker room after the game. He wanted players to use the Rasheed Wallace “both teams played hard” line that still ranks among the most hilarious postgame interviews ever.
As usual, no one listened to Scott. It’s nice to see his teammates take him as seriously as the rest of us. Yeremiah Bell apparently told him to “just stop” and proceeded to answer questions. Scott also yelled at veteran Bryan Thomas for answering questions, calling him a “sellout.”
Scott now claims he was joking. We doubt that.
Meanwhile, Scott had no ability to muzzle teammate Santonio Holmes, who was watching from home with his season-ending Lisfranc injury. Holmes jumped on Twitter to mock his former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who is now in the same position for the Rams.

The two reportedly clashed much of last season, with Schottenheimer benching him in the final game of the season at Miami after Holmes had a meltdown and fought with his teammates in the huddle. Holmes clearly hasn’t let it go quite yet.
