Police arrest two in relation to city’s latest murder

Two people are now facing charges after Brendan Malcolm McNaughton, 21, was killed in an alleged random attack outside a west-end bar early Saturday morning, police said

Around 3:45 a.m., police received a call that a man had been stabbed to death outside the Nu Wave Bar on 182 Street and 89 Avenue.

Investigators believe McNaughton was walking home from the bar when he got into an altercation with a group of men.

Jayden Jeffery Zylinski, 19, has been charged with second-degree murder, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, careless storage of a firearm and careless storage of ammunition. Nathan Gordon Gour, 21, has been charged with one count of assault.

The death marks Edmonton’s sixth homicide of 2009.
