Boston police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who robbed the CVS near Beacon Hill Saturday morning and used a bomb threat as a distraction.
The man, who was wearing a mask over his face and hood over his head, went into the store about 11:30 a.m. and approached the pharmacy counter.
He passed a note and a bag to one of the pharmacists and said “Read this and do it,” according to police.
The note told the pharmacist to fill the bag with various medications and that someone would be watching the store. It also said that if police were not called in for 2 ½ hours, bombs at the pharmacy and nearby library would be deactivated.
The man then fled with his bag of medication.
The bomb squad responded to the pharmacy and West End library branch where they searched for suspicious-looking devices. Nothing was found, police said.
Police described the suspect as a heavy-set white man. He was wearing a gray hooded-sweatshirt, black mask and black jeans or pants.
