Police investigating potential homicide in Lowertown highrise

Ottawa police are investigating what they believe may be a homicide after a man was found dead in a Lowertown highrise Tuesday morning.

At 1:03 a.m., police were called to 380 Murray St. “for the report of an injured person,” said Ottawa Police Const. Al Boucher.

Inside one of the units, police found a male in his 30s who was deceased, and immediately called in the major crime unit to look into a suspicious death, Boucher said.

“It’s treated as a homicide until the autopsy results confirm or deny that,” Boucher said.

Boucher said police arrested two males in relation to the incident.

“We’re still trying to confirm the identity of the deceased,” said Boucher. An autopsy to confirm the cause of death is also being conducted. Next of kin has yet to be notified.

The unit has been sealed off according to protocol.
