Police nab sex assault suspect

Police are crediting a woman’s detailed description for catching a suspect in an alleged sexual assault last week.

Staff Sgt. Ralph Veckenstedt said an officer saw a car matching the vehicle description in a car wash and the suspect matched the details the woman gave to police. She later identified the suspect in a photo lineup.

“We were able to piece it together,” Veckenstedt said.

Police said on Thursday morning, a 21-year-old woman was walking her dog along 14 Ave. and 42 St. SE when she was pinned up against the car by a man making sexual comments, until a passerby came to her aid.

Police are still looking for the witness to come forward.

Kenneth Michael O’Reilly, 47, of Calgary, has been charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement.
