Police pull body from pond

Police pulled a body from a south Edmonton pond after reports of a woman heard screaming in the area, early yesterday.

A witness said they saw a scantily clad woman run into a Millwoods pond early yesterday morning, and not come out.

“I saw (the individual) run into the lake, I couldn’t see if it was a him or a her,” said Eunique Kasokao. “I saw them in shorts, they weren’t wearing a shirt or anything, they kind of just ran in there.”

Police tape barred access to the storm water pond as bystanders watched the fire department and police officers search for and recover the body of a young woman.

“The results are the recovery of a female body, about 20 feet away from where she was last seen alive,” said Edmonton Police Service’s Ken Koluk. “It’s in the hands of EPS now.”

Firefighters searched the dark murky water and found the woman’s body at 1 p.m. Foul play is not suspected.
