Public inquiry into Robert Dziekanski’s death hears from its last witness

The public inquiry into the death of Robert Dziekanski has heard from its last witness.

There have been more than 80 witnesses at the inquiry, called by the B.C. government over a chorus of outrage over Dziekanski’s October 2007 death, after he was shocked multiple times by an RCMP Taser at Vancouver’s airport.

The inquiry has heard conflicting views about what actually caused his death, and about the actions of RCMP and airport officials.

Police were summoned to deal with Dziekanski after he began throwing furniture in the arrivals area of the airport.

He had wandered around the customs hall for hours, looking for his mother after arriving from Poland to start a new life in Canada.

Closing arguments at the inquiry are set for next month.
