Public tips lead to two arrests in pot bust: Cops

Police were able to arrest an alleged drug dealer and supplier thanks to information from the public, officials say.

Staff Sgt. Mark Hatchette said police were led to the suspected supplier rather quickly after arresting a first man June 2 in the 1700 block of 43 Street NW, when they seized drugs and cash. Officials say that arrest led to a search on two homes, where police found a sophisticated marijuana operation.

“It’s significant because you’ve got so many different types of drugs going to so many different addicts, so it’s really good to get that off the street,” Hatchette said.

David Jaworowski, 21, is facing numerous charges including possession of crack for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and eight counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Hung Van Tran, 46, is facing numerous charges including two counts of theft of electricity under $5,000 and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
