Hackers start your laptops!
The goal of the event, which runs from Friday through Sunday, is to have software developers, coders, activists, and others create new technology-based tools that serve the common good, organizers said.
The event, called Random Hacks of Kindness, is open to all people regardless of skill level, although an RSVP is required. It is taking place at Greentown Labs in Somerville starting Friday evening.
Some of the prior Code for Boston projects created by volunteers include apps and tools that help people get to polling locations, fulfill needed donations to food pantries and help volunteers better coordinate.
“Let the coding begin here, but not end here. I hope this is just the beginning of a productive relationship with Code for Boston. Our data is your data,”Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone said in a statement.
