Who: Rebel Wine Co.
What: The Show Cabernet Sauvignon
Where: Central and North Coast AVA’s, California, U.S.
Why: Value is everything, and this is a show stopper. A big, juicy, balanced Cali Cab for under $20? Case worthy! Jammy blackberries, dried blueberries, black cherries and spice throughout, with a nice mocha and vanilla lift to the finish. Some air time will increase the lushness. If you can’t find this particular label in your local liquor store, fret not — they created three special commemorative labels for this Show — all the same wine.
How (much): $19.09 BCLS
When: Perfectly apt for grilled meats — especially with leg of lamb. Try with a thyme and wild blueberry glaze.
Winespeak of the Week: Though the only grape varietal you’ll see on the label is Cabernet Sauvignon, American wine law allows a wine to be labeled as a varietal if it has 75 per cent or more of that variety. The Show also has added Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot blended in.
