Instead of a white Christmas, it looks like we’re in for a wet and record-breaking warm one.

Temperatures are expected to once again go up this coming week bringing us numbers in the high 50s and making it past the 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

To start off the week, the temperature hits a high of around 52 with wind chills between 30 and 40, then by the evening there will be a chance of showers, mainly after 1 a.m.

Make sure to take your umbrella with you the rest of the week, as showers are expected to stay with us up until the morning of Christmas Eve.

According to NWS meteorologist Carlie Buccola, Thursday is being forecasted to be the “warmest Christmas Eve on record” with a possible high of 67 degrees — beating a record of 63 degrees back in 1996.

Temperatures this month are about 11.7 degrees above normal — with numbers normally only reaching the low 40s — making it the warmest December on record for the city.

For Christmas Day we will see a slight drop with only hitting the high 50s, but still staying above average for this time of year.

So put away those sweaters, gloves, wool scarves and hot cocoa — because Santa Claus will be making a stop into a warm New York City this year.
