A Red Sox fan was hospitalized Saturday after he was hit by a piece of broken bat that flew into the stands at Fenway Park.
The fan was sitting a few rows behind some newly installed protective netting, a spokesman for the team told WBZ, adding he was treated at the park before being transported to Deaconess Medical Center.

The injury took place during the first inning of the team’s game against the Houston Astros, with the that team’s right fielder George Springer up at bat. It’s the second time this season a spectator was hit with shrapnel from a broken bat while watching a game at Fenway.
