A former elementary school is in the process of being converted into a condominium in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen.

Gotham Organization, aNew York City-based real estate development firm, just announced its newest residential project, Inkwell, which is slated for completion in the fall of 2016.

The five-story, pre-war brick building locatedat 520 W. 45th St. is expected to start sales of the 18 residences later this summer.

“Inkwell offers buyers uniquely designed residences, situated in one of the most interesting neighborhoods in the city,” said David L. Picket, president of Gotham Organization. “With the completion of our recent project, Gotham West, we have a clear understanding of the neighborhood and marketplace and expect Inkwell to set the standard for high-design and an unparalleled living experience.”

The design of the condominium aims to draw inspiration from the building’s history, while adding luxurious modern touches. Custom door frames and transoms embellished with brass knobs can be found in all 18 apartments. The kitchen and powder room house blackboards, and custom lighting and furniture are featured throughout the rooms. The gym is decorated with a custom caged light-fixture, and bespoke light fixtures light up the kitchens and bathrooms.

Inkwell holds 16 two-bedroom apartments measuring between 1,200 to 1,400 square feet with a starting price of $1.78 million. The other two 1,900-square-foot residences have three bedrooms and private gardens and are expected to start at $2.75 million.
