Martin Brodeur apparently wants to play one more game — his 1,250th regular season start — for the Devils.

If you want to watch Martin Brodeur in a Devils uniform you likely only have one more chance.
The New York Daily News reports the long-rumored trade between the Wild and Devils swapping Brodeur will be completed before Wednesday’s trade deadline. But Brodeur, who has to approve the deal due to a no-trade clause in his contract, wants to play one more game in New Jersey, according to the Daily News.
The Devils play Detroit Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Prudential Center.
Brodeur has spent all 21 seasons with the Devils and won three Stanley Cups (1995, 2000, 2003). He also won the Vezina Trophy, going to the league’s top goalie, four times.
The future Hall of Famer debated retirement the last two offseasons, before deciding to give it another go with New Jersey. The last time they went to the playoffs, Brodeur and New Jersey reached the Stanley Cup in 2012, but fell to the Kings.
The Devils are a disappointing 26-23-13 this season — sixth in the Metropolitan Division. They are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference, but with 65 points are just three points out of the final playoff spot. The problem is positions sixth through 12th are separated by just five points. The logjam may make it tough for the Devils to rise to the final spot.
New Jersey traded for goaltender Cory Schneider this offseason, dealing a first-round pick to Vancouver for the 27-year-old. Schneider has a 12-12-9 record this season and a 1.92 goals against average. Brodeur is 14-11-4, but has a goals against average of 2.47 — his worst since 2005-06 and the second-worst of his career.
The NHL trade deadline is at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
