An off-duty cop is free on bail after allegedly hitting and killing a pedestrian while driving drunk.
Officials say officer Luis Arnao, a 25-year-old patrol officer who joined the force in July 2010, hit Tyre Chishom, 22, just before 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Arnao reportedly struck the 22-year-old on White Plains Road near 241st Street in the Bronx’s Wakefield neighborhood.
According to the New York Post, his blood alcohol content was .07, higher than the legal limit of .05.
He was in Bronx criminal court Wednesday, charged with vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and DWI.
Arnao was suspended from the force pending an investigation and is out on a $20,000 bail.
