Retirement still far off for Tom Brady

The Patriots are so secretive regarding just about everything that sometimes one thinks that Tom Brady or Bill Belichick will just walk up to the podium on a rainy day in July and say they are done with football.

The length of Belichick’s contract is never exposed but Brady has been dropping hints about when he will finally walk away over the past few years and fortunately, for Patriots fans, it’s not happening anytime soon.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Peter King, published on their web site yesterday, Brady said the following:

“My wife said to me, ‘When I met you (in 2006), you said you wanted to play 10 more years. How come that number never goes down? It’s that I love the game. I love the game,” the 34-year-old Brady said. “I can throw the ball today as far as I’ve ever been able to throw it. That’s not the issue there. (Brett) Favre threw it great in his last year or so. (49-year-old Major League baseball player) Jamie Moyer’s still getting people out. That’s not the problem.”
