Vancouver Deputy Police Chief Bob Rich is Abbotsford’s new top cop.
Rich, who spent 28 years as a police officer in Vancouver and has a son on the force, begins his role as Abbotsford Police Department’s chief constable on July 14.
“We’re losing a great colleague and a great friend,” said Vancouver Chief Const. Jim Chu, who first worked with Rich as a patrol constable and paralleled his rise through the ranks, from supervisors, to district commanders and finally as deputy chiefs under former Chief Const. Jamie Graham.
Rich, along with then-Vancouver Supt. Kash Heed, were reported to be finalists in the hiring process that selected Chu as chief constable in Vancouver.
