It’s not even Memorial Day yet but Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowskihas clinched the off-season as it was announced Thursday night that he will be on the cover of Madden NFL ’17. The cover of the Madden video game franchise is an extremely high honor as it features the best of the best in the NFL. Gronkowski was considered for the cover last year but was narrowly beaten out by New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in a fan poll.Gronkhas pleaded his casefor the cover in the past in YouTube videos. The above video from 2012 shows Gronkowski spiking a mini-Megatron (aka former Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson). Gronk’s spike was all for not that yearthough as Megatron ended up on the Madden 13 cover. A look at the cover boys through the years:
