Sackville business owner seriously injured in assault

Halifax RCMP say the owner of Sackville Motorsports suffered a serious leg injury after she was assaulted in the dealership’s parking lot yesterday afternoon.

Police say at 2:30 p.m. the 43-year-old victim was approached in the parking lot by a blond female who yelled something at her before striking her below the knee with an undetermined object.

“We believe some type of blunt object or sharp object,” RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin said of the weapon used.

Police say the victim was severely cut below her knee and called police at a residence next door. The attacker fled the scene either on foot or by a vehicle, police said.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Taplin said they have had preliminary discussions with the victim, but still don’t know what may have caused the attack.
