Saskatoon beats Regina 8-1

SASKATOON – Josh Nicholls scored twice and set up one more as the Saskatoon Blades defeated the visiting Regina Pats 8-1 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Brett Stovin and Darren Dietz also scored two goals each for the Blades (30-19-1) while Lukas Sutter had a goal and an assist and Jake Trask scored a single goal.

Morgan Klimchuk scored the lone goal for the Pats (26-19-6).

Andrey Makarov made 19 saves for the win while Matt Hewitt allowed six goals on 24 shots before being pulled late in the third period.

Adam Beukeboom came in and stopped 7 of 9 shots in relief.

Saskatoon went 1 for 3 on the power play as Regina failed to score on six opportunities with the man advantage.
