Schumer: Fliers’ miles vanish with no warning

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer yesterday demanded a federal probe into airlines’ frequent flyer policies after numerous complaints from travelers that their miles seem to disappear with no warning.

“As the holiday travel season approaches, we cannot let airlines and credit card companies continue to fly off with hard-earned frequent flier miles,” Schumer said in a statement released yesterday.

“When a consumer accumulates valuable frequent flier miles, they should not have to constantly worry that they are going to expire with little or no notification from the airline.”

Tens of millions of miles were rescinded by airlines and credit card companies without little or no advance notice to customers, he said.
