Schumer tosses B-word on flight

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer referred to a flight attendant who chastised him for not turning off his cell phone as a “bitch,” according to a report on Politico.com.

Schumer was on a US Airways flight from New York to Washington on Sunday when he defied instructions to stop talking and turn off his phone, a Republican aide told Politico’s Anne Schroeder Mullins. The attendant told the senator everyone on the plane was waiting for him to finish. As she moved away, he turned to his seatmate, U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, and was overheard referring to the attendant a “bitch.”

“The senator made an off-the-cuff comment under his breath that he shouldn’t have made, and he regrets it,” a spokesman for Schumer told Politico.

The Republican source told the Web site that Schumer’s phone rang again just after he was told to knock it off.

“It’s Harry Reid calling,” Schumer announced, according to the source. “I guess health care will have to wait until we land.”
