ESPN confirmed midday Tuesday that Eddie Lacy had inked a one-year, $5.55 million deal with the Seahawks, a day after Adrian Peterson visited Seattle and left without a deal.

There is an unclear path forward for the NFL’s top free agent running backs, including Peterson, Latavius Murray and Jamaal Charles.

Here’s what we know for sure.

With Lacy off the board, the other three high-profile backs have visits scheduled throughout the week. Charles, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, is still planning to visit Seattle. Would they take a risk on not one but two injury-prone but well-accomplished running backs?

With Peterson looking for a new team, Minnesota is moving on with a scheduled visit by Murray later today. Should the Vikings strike a deal with the former Raiders big bruising back, Peterson’s options and negotiating power will be very limited.

The Ravens recently agreed on a deal with Danny Woodhead(three years, $8.8 million)at running back, and the market seems to be shaping up to favor buyers not sellers.

A few teams still in the mix for a running back are the Patriots andPackers. The Eagles, rumored to be interested in Murray earlier this offseason, are cash-strapped and most likely to stick with Ryan Mathews or add a back via the NFL draft.
