‘Sophisticated, very New York’

Distinction and class resound mightily at The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton.

No detail has been left out in the spectacular condominium residences atop the swanky Ritz-Carlton Toronto yet despite the upscale pedigree the model suite stays resolutely youthful, inviting and current.

“The interior isn’t stodgy, it’s fresh, new and it’s an eclectic mix of things. It’s not an intimidating space — it still feels warm and comfortable,” said Alessandro Munge, managing partner at design house Munge Leung, which designed the model suite and presentation centre.

The main living areas are outfitted with darker, more prominent colours like dark burgundies, accented with lighter tones of silver, crème and grey to create a more distinctive, masculine feel with feminine overtones for a truly metropolitan look.

“We went with deeper tones, more masculine but balanced off with little feminine touches. It feels very sophisticated, very New York,” Munge said.

Munge used layered textures of materials throughout the suite to create a vibrant palette of tone-on-tone variation that creates an intense, elegant look, especially in the living and dining areas.

“We are using multiple layers of materials and fabrics but it feels very simple because it’s a real tonal mix of colours rather than contrasting ones,” Munge said.

The master bedroom features custom-designed upholstery and a beautiful, wall-unit-sized headboard while the large ensuite bathroom space features an enclosed shower and an enclosed toilet and bidet compartment with marble, glass and mirror accents throughout.

“We strive for a level of comfort and not intimidation. We want people to understand the quality they’re buying.”
