Tomas Costa might be MLS-bound, the Argentine midfielder perhaps heading to the league this offseason.

A one-time member of Portuguese club Porto, one of the best teams in Europe and a side that regularly features in the knockout round of the Champions League, Costa has been with Uruguay’s biggest club Peñarol since he rejoined this season. A central midfielder, the league source said that one club in the Western Conference has targeted the player as a possible transfer to join MLS ahead of the 2017 season.

Costa, who began his career with Argentina’s Rosario Central, is set to turn 32-years old this January. He is known for having a good right-foot from distance. He possesses tremendous vision and the ability to switch fields.

No word on if any potential landing spot for Costa would need to pay a transfer fee for the central midfielder and if the club is prepared to meet the demands of Peñarol, one of the best teams in South America.
