Free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick continues his search to find a new NFL home for the 2017 season.

After months of questionable treatment from the league, he finally might have a lead.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday that Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has been speaking with Kaepernick and that “there is interest.”

Harbaugh later addressed the rumors, via Rapoport:

Kaepernick has been unable to catch on anywhere in the league since opting out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers, which was a difficult end to a controversial season.

The 29-year-old grabbed headlines last year when he sat for the national anthem as a form of protest against wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States.

He continued to do so throughout the 2016 season, gaining the support of players around the league in the process. It also created a firestorm from others who believed that there were other ways of protesting beside sitting or kneeling during the playing of the national anthem.

But Kaepernick, whose production on the field has decreased drastically over the last couple seasons, has continued to work for his cause and has been proactive in getting out in the community and sharing his ideas and beliefs.

Even with being benched last season in favor of Blaine Gabbert, Kaepernick is still a NFL-caliber quarterback. However, the man that led the 49ers to an appearance in Super Bowl XLVII couldn’t find a job.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter believed there was more to it, via Adam Stites of SB Nation:

“Do I think that certain owners have blocked teams from visits or interest? I do, I do believe that. And I think that there has been more interest in him from the coaching and front office level than there has been at the ownership level. So it was always going to take a unique opportunity for him to be brought in, in the right place, at the right spot, at the right time.”

Kaepernick is 28-30 as a starter in the NFL with a 59.8-percent completion rate, over 12,000 passing yards, 72 touchdowns, 30 interceptions and 2,300 rushing yards.
